Behind the SEAMs
The Great Escape
Handcrafted Outerwear
Hello and welcome to my online shop, my name is John and it’s me in all the pictures with a sewing machine and modelling the occasional jacket when I can’t get anyone else to do it.
Seam Junkies is an independent clothing brand established 2021 in Lanarkshire, Scotland.
I design/ cut / sew/ garment dye all of the items you see available in the shop. I aim to create garments inspired by vintage sportswear, workwear, military gear and the occasional 90s Shell Suit.
I mainly work on a made to order basis and aim to turn around all orders within 14 days of checkout.
I do have some items in stock and encourage you to check out the site for current offerings, especially in the outlet section where there’s a few bargains to be had.
Operating from my workspace in ML1 ( The Great Escape) each garment undergoes a meticulous and slow process, from design conception to cutting and sewing. I try to make use of dead stock, reclaimed, recycled, and sustainable fabrics whenever possible.
I wouldn’t call this a collection as I just design jackets that i like and would wear and hope that others would too. Over the course of the year some items will be archived as newer designs are added as there’s only so many I can turn around in the 14 day window.
Don’t be afraid of being different, be afraid of being the same.
Please note that the availability of colors, fabrics, and accessories may fluctuate. While i endeavor to capture the colours of the garments accurately in my visuals, variations in appearance may occur depending on the viewing screen. Thanks.
Engineered in Scotland
In my workshop I have assembled over the years a fine collection of machines and im always on the lookout for more, each is chosen to contribute its unique skill to craft the perfect piece. Though not every design calls for their use, each one plays a vital role in the process. Allow me to introduce you to a few of my favorites.
